The art of Childhood
Childhood is straight magic*
*and also exhausting, loud, snuggly, soft and covered in more bodily fluids than you expected…but in the midst of all that is magic.
The sort of magic that’ll make you miss (almost) every second of it someday.
Let’s create immersive images that bottle up all that magic and help you remember.
Child + Family
What’s the difference?
Family photos sessions include everyone as you explore and play together! These sessions are focused on your life right now as a family and highlight all that love and connection.
Childhood sessions are really focused on personality and don’t include parents in the images. These tend more toward whimsical portraits that capture the essence of your child’s character.
i don’t want your kids to behave!
Okay, hear me out. I want your kids to feel confident to explore and play, not worry about posing. Asking kids to sit still and smile straight at the camera when they don’t want to leads to less genuine images.
My philosophy is to observe and document. I’m always there to guide, but each session is child-led. I’ve found in my experience that letting things unfold naturally creates images that feel so much more connected to emotion and personality than trying to force poses. And bonus — photographing this way makes everyone (kids and parents!) way less stressed.
PARENTING IS THE HARDEST, BEST THINg WE DO IN OUR LIVES
It’s intimate, emotional, all-consuming. It can be bone-deep exhaustion and big-hearted happiness at the same time. And it often happens without notice. But that doesn’t feel quite right.
It should be celebrated. It should be remembered.
That’s why I love offering tangible artwork to my families.
Every time you look through your album or pass your art in the hall, I want you to relive the right now.
